Brooklyn Area Info

When describing the Brooklyn area, words simply do not do it justice. Literally, within two blocks is another world, in all directions, from the cobbled streets to the amusement parks. Brooklyn is a hotbed of cultural exchange, nightlife and family fun that is waiting to be discovered.

The New East Village
If you’re up for a night of bar-hopping, Williamsburg is the ‘New East Village’. It is a very culturally diverse spot. An influx of young artists and musicians are making Williamsburg the new 'New East Village'. With tons of music venues and fun bars, Williamsburg is a must-see for the legal aged Brooklyn-er. Spend some time in this Brooklyn favorite, taking in a free concert, and then heading south to stop into the many hip boutiques and coffee shops along the way.

It would be in bad taste to not mention the Brooklyn Bridge as the flavor of this borough. Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is key to the best view of Manhattan. You can get to the bridge by subway from anywhere in the city. When you need some family friendly ideas, you’re in luck. Two of the most quaint and lovely amusement parks are here in Brooklyn. Coney Island is home to famous rides like the Cyclone Roller Coaster and the Wonder Wheel. There is little doubt that you will recognize this Brooklyn area from movies and television. The historic seaside Brooklyn area is about an hour by train from Manhattan and boasts a lively boardwalk, beach, and, of course, best hot dogs around. You could also opt for AstroLand, New York City's largest amusement park.

Brooklyn Outdoors
The Brooklyn outdoors is enchanting as well. The Brooklyn Heights Promenade offers magnificent views of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge, this sliver of green overlooks Brooklyn's busy industrial waterfront. Prospect Park is Brooklyn's answer to Central Park. It houses a zoo, an Audubon Center and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Its entrance is marked by the large Memorial Arch and it is a mecca for families and nature lovers who go to play ball, bird watch and listen to outdoor concerts. Park Slope is the Brooklyn area that families choose for their fun and activities. It is the perfect blend of hip New York, suitable for young families, with vibrant cafe life, excellent public transport, many museums/galleries and of course the fabulous Prospect Park. Though it’s a bit of a hike, Red Hook is a great place to explore for the day. Walk down cobblestone streets, head to the Red Hook Ball fields for delicious South American food, or just relax and enjoy the views of Lower Manhattan from the neighborhood's waterfront parks. This is where you can relax on a bench to people watch, picnic or just take in the breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline along this exclusively pedestrian walkway that is lined with grand historic townhouses.
